Early Life

Stella Maynes Maxwell was born on May 15th, 1990, in Belgium to Northern Irish parents. She traveled a lot as a kid. Stella’s father Maurice Maxwell was head of the Delegation for the European Commission which is the executive brand of the European Union.

Her mother also shares the name Stella with her family name being Mains. Stella has two older brothers and Martin and an older sister Helen. Having lived in Belgium from birth, Stella studied at the Internation European School of Brussels called Woluwe.

Stella and her family moved to Canberra in Australia when she was thirteen years old. Then the family relocated from there to Wellington in New Zealand. She decided to stay on her own in Australia for a year and completed her graduation from Queen Margaret College.

Career

When she joined her family in New Zealand, she enrolled in the University of Otago, studying Psychology. It was then she was spotted in Dunedin Street by a model scale from Melinda McDaniel Models.

Her first fashion show was in 2009 with Ready to Wear – Autumn / Winter where she proudly walked the ramp for Charles Anastase, Mara Hoffman, Fashion East, and Luella. Stella started posing for magazine covers in 2010 such as Japanese magazine Soen.
