Marco Anthony Archer aka Phora was born on October 11th, 1994, in Anaheim, California where he also grew up. He was raised by a single mother but did have a stepdad.

As for his real father, he was a white rapper who used to take young Marco to sell CDs in the parking lot for food for less. Phora recorded his first rap with his dad at the age of seven.

His parents got divorced, and after that Phora would be raised entirely by his mother. She was a strong black woman who worked several jobs to pay the bills.

Before launching his music career, Phora was a tattoo artist. At the age of 14, he had his first tattoo and later started out drawing anime characters on paper. In junior high school, a friend of his got him into graffiti and tagging became a serious creative outlet for him.

At the age of 15, Phora started tattooing professionally. In the 11th grade, he dropped out of high school to dedicate more time to his craft. He managed to make enough money to pay both his mom’s rent and fund his rap career.

Phora registered his YouTube channel in December 2010 when he was 16. His first video uploaded nine days later a song called “Graph History”. The music video for “Sick With It” featuring P1CASO followed in August of 2011.
