Marco Anthony Archer aka Phora was born on October 11th, 1994, in Anaheim, California where he also grew up. He was raised by a single mother but did have a stepdad.
As for his real father, he was a white rapper who used to take young Marco to sell CDs in the parking lot for food for less. Phora recorded his first rap with his dad at the age of seven.
His parents got divorced, and after that Phora would be raised entirely by his mother. She was a strong black woman who worked several jobs to pay the bills.
Career
Before launching his music career, Phora was a tattoo artist. At the age of 14, he had his first tattoo and later started out drawing anime characters on paper. In junior high school, a friend of his got him into graffiti and tagging became a serious creative outlet for him.
At the age of 15, Phora started tattooing professionally. In the 11th grade, he dropped out of high school to dedicate more time to his craft. He managed to make enough money to pay both his mom’s rent and fund his rap career.
Phora registered his YouTube channel in December 2010 when he was 16. His first video uploaded nine days later a song called “Graph History”. The music video for “Sick With It” featuring P1CASO followed in August of 2011.

Phora released his mixtape “Still a Kid” in 2012, both as a digital download and a physical CD. He followed this up with “One Life to Live” in 2013. Around that time some of his tracks went viral including “My Story”, “90’s Baby”, and “No Other Way”.
In 2014, Phora dropped the mixtape “Sincerely Yours” and followed it up with his first EP “Nights Like These”. The extended play broke onto the Billboard Rap Chart, peaking at 83. Phora came to success after releasing the music video for his single “Deeper Than Blood”. In 2016 he topped the US Rap Charts for the first time with his mixtape “With Love”. Phora says J. Cole, Hopson, and Logic are the only rappers he likes. His musical influences expanded far beyond those three. In 2017 he told XXL that he grew up listening to Snoop Dogg, Nas, Common, and Dr. Dre.
Growing up being mixed ethnicity, Phora was raised in all different colors and cultures. Thanks to his father, he fell in love with hip-hop and dreamed of one day making it as a rapper.
Personal Life
Despite his success in music, Phora found himself in trouble over the years. He spent two years in juvenile detention.
Aside from this, in August 2015, he was driving home with his girlfriend on the 210 freeway in Pasadena, and an Infiniti pulled up alongside their car. He took three bullets in the neck and back.
