Early Life
Caleb Zackery Toliver was born on June 12th, 1994, in Houston, Texas, USA. His father Anthony Toliver is a rapper and once made a handful of appearances on a 2000 album from Swishahouse artist, Archie Lee.
Music has been a part of Toliver’s life since his childhood, thanks to his father. He was raised by his mother Carla and his father and they always kept the house full of music. Toliver grew up listening to artists including, Marvin Gaye, Sada, Maxwell, and Stevie Wonder.
While growing up in Alief, he went to Hastings High School. Another big influence of Don was Kendrick Lamar’s 2010 mixtape, “Overlay Dedicated.” Although he also had an interest in video games. Upon his high school graduation, he moved to his friend’s apartment and started building a music studio.
Career
In 2017 Caleb took on the moniker of Don and released a collaborative mixtape, “Playa Familia” with Yungjosh93. Next, these two began to hip up local showcases to refine their talent, including a popular local event.
Don quickly recognized that he was better at singing than he was rapping. From there, he spent the next few years practicing this new aspect of his craft. In the spring of 2017, the two went to New York for better opportunities.
