Early Life
Qwayshawn Cannon was born in December of 2000 in the Bronx, New York City. He grew up as a part of a West Indian family on the South side of the Bronx. He spent his childhood in the Andrew Jackson Houses where his future partners Kay Flock and Dougie B also grew up.
Qwayshawn attended James Monroe High School in New York. While growing up he began listening to artists like Cheif Keef, Kodak Black, and Lil Baby. As a teenager, he tried rapping for the first time.
He began recording tracks under the nickname “Buddy Love” after the Eddie Murphy character from the film “The Nutty Professor”. But around that time he wasn’t interested in uploading music to SoundCloud or YouTube.
