Early Life

Why G was born on November 12th, 1994. He spent the better part of his childhood growing up around Toronto’s most notorious neighborhood Jane and Finch.

Growing up Why G spent his childhood between his mother’s place on Orpington Crescent, his Auntie’s house in Driftwood, and his grandmother’s home at the intersection of Jane and Sheppard. Why G’s mother did a job as a Child Youth worker.

Upon his education, he attended Beverly Heights Middle School. Then he enrolled at Elmbank Junior Middle Academy for a year of Grade 8. Why G also attended C.W. Jeffreys Collegiate Institute for his high-school career.

Why G grew up alongside fellow rapper Quinto Armani Gardner, aka, Pressa. Their moms and dads are friends since they were studying in high school. Their history goes back a long way with both sets of their parents.

Career

Following his release from prison, Why G teamed up with his buddy Pressa and they released a song titled “Gam#le”. This 2018 single boasted production from frequent Drake and Jay-Z collaborators one to grow.

Following the success, Why G joined Pressa and the rest of his family at BLUE FEATHERS RECORDS. But he never signed any paper because simply put he never really needed to. He’s been rapping that organization alongside his own label Vanish Entertainment ever since.

In 2019 Why G released his debut studio album “Mr Vanishyah” which was highlighted by the Houdini-assisted number “Auntie”. Auntie is a certified Toronto Classic that at least triple platinum in the streets. That was just the beginning of Why G’s career.

Over the next few months Why G released further extended plays including “One Styled” after his nickname “EL Neato”. He dropped another EP titled “35 Jane” in recognition of his favorite basketball player Kevin Durant.

Breakthrough

Why G then ended the first prolific year of his career with an album called “War Package” which was inspired by the concept of Drake’s “Care Package”. To record the album song Why G gathered many tracks recorded earlier in his career.

In 2020 Why G teamed up with another fellow Toronto rapper named Top5 to release the Piano Driven single “Heard Of Me”. The song pulled off the impressive feat of hitting the very top of YouTube’s trending list shortly after its release. That song earned over 3.5 million views on YouTube and also it became Why G’s one of the most successful singles.

That same year he once again released multiple projects. He started with an extended play crafted during the early days of the pandemic peddled “CORORONA VIRUS”. He then moved on to something a little bit more personal with this 13-song mixtape “Killer By My Self”.

Further Success

Why G also began experimenting with more pop music production stylings and melodic rhyming on singles like “Bogus” which was released in 2021. He then teamed up with rapper Tallup Twin to release the popular single “Screen”. He followed up with another single “Not” at the end of 2021.

In the next year Why G kicked things off with a collaboration alongside Burna Bandz for the song “Feelings”. Then in March of that year, the rapper released his EP titled “CRONEM”. This album boasts a series of collaborations with rising artists including Baby 2, Top5, and Pressa, among others.

Personal Life

In 2011 Why G was one of 396 people arrested including his friend Pressa and what came to be known as “Project Marvel”. After a months-long investigation by Tronto police into the distribution of drugs that ended in a raid of Why G’s neighborhood. Why G wound up spending the next two years in jail and was released from prison when he was 19 years old.

Why G’s troubles with police wouldn’t stop there. For the next year, he and Pressa teamed up to record some of their earliest music. These songs ended up getting leaked onto the internet through social media platforms and YouTube.

Unfortunately, before they could make anything of their music career, both Why G and Pressa found themselves in prison once again before the year was up. This time they only spent a few months in jail.

That wound up lasting 2 years before Why G was finally caught in Cleveland, Ohio in early 2018. Thankfully all was not last for Why G and his childhood friend Pressa came to the rescue.

The young rapper Pressa paid a reported $50 thousand on the best lawyer money could buy to help his friend beat the case and see him released. Soon enough Why G was finally back home in Toronto.
