Early Life

Mario Diamond-Judah Douglas was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 6th, 1999. During his childhood, his Ugandan parents packed their family up and relocated south to Atlanta, Georgia.

Growing up, his original plan was to become a teacher. Then, as he grew older, his plans changed many times until he had ambitions of becoming a football player. He first got into high school where he found himself in street life.

So Judah’s father believed the only thing that could help his son was to ship him off to military school. Eventually, he graduated from the academy, earning himself a free ride to college where he learned how to become a welder.

Career

As soon as he graduated, Mario started going to FL Studio and spent over 18 hours crafting his first beat. Around that time he was listening to artists like Cheif Keef, as well as rock bands Breaking Benjamin and Five Finger.

At first, he thought that he may only become a producer, so he only focussed on making beats. But shortly thereafter someone gave him the best advice which was to try performing himself.

In January 2020, Judah began recording his own tracks for the first time. It wasn’t until he began messing around with the sound of his voice that things began to pay off. He utilized that technique that’s known as “Vibrato.”

Breakthrough

During the pandemic, Judah released his first music, a song titled, “Crush.” The track blew up online and led him to grab the attention of other artists. In September 2020, Judah released the music video for “Die Very Rough” which cemented his place in the hip-hop landscape.

He dropped that single on SoundCloud a few months earlier but it was the video that went viral. The music video for the song earned over 4 million views within four days. From there the popularity of the song transitioned to TikTok.

After taking over streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, Judah received an offer from the folks over at Rolling Loud to live stream performance. He took this extra opportunity and went viral once again. This time for doing a purifier interpretation of the Baby’s hit single “RockStar” featuring Roddy Ricch.

Personal Life

The popular comedian, Druski conducted a hilarious interview that only served to increase Judah’s exposure. The rapper decided to gently encourage his musical idol Playboi Carti to release the long-delayed album, “Whole Lotta Red.”

Judah was hoping to motivate Carti in releasing the actual version first, but it didn’t wind up working out that way. After giving Carti a deadline of December 6, 2020, Judah dropped his EP including the song titled, “Bih Yah.” That track had earned over 1.4 million views on YouTube within 24 hours.

Two weeks later Carti finally dropped his version of “Whole Lotta Red.” By the start of 2021, a video was leaked online that showed Judah getting into a fight with his ex-girlfriend. Once that video began circulating, it was clear that things had gone much further than anyone could expect.

Judah did release two songs in 2021 including, a collaboration with Tes X titled, “It’s Time to Rock” and a single, “Remember Your Name.” In the following year, he released another song, “Afraid of Love.”
