Early Life
Jorja Alice Smith was born on June 11th, 1997, in Walsall, West Midlands, England. She was raised by a Jamaican father and a British mother. Music was always been part of her life, her father Peter is a singer who performed with the 2nd Naicha music group.
Her mother Jolene is a jewelry designer who runs her own business. Jorja grew up with her younger brother Luca. At the age of eight, she began taking piano lessons after her father encouraged her. Smith attended Aldridge School, where she studied classical singing and won a scholarship.
She was just 11 years old when Smith began writing songs and later began uploading cover songs and videos of herself on YouTube. At the age of 15, she was scouted by a manager. Upon her high school graduation, Smith moved to London to pursue her music career by the age of 18.
