Early Life
Ava Michelle Cota was born on April 10th, 2002, in Fenton, Michigan, USA. Her father Rick Cota passed away when she was very young. Michelle was raised by her mother Jeanette who is a choreographer and owner of the Broadway Dance Academy studio in Michigan.
She grew up with her brother Devon Cota a model and singer, who passed away by the age of 23 in 2017. Her mother’s JC’s Broadway Dance Academy was closed later in 2022. Ava was just two years old when she began training to dance, thanks to her mother who was already working in the dance industry.
In terms of education, Michelle attended Linden Middle School in Michigan. In the 8th grade, her mother decided to pursue Ava’s studies through homeschooling, graduating in 2018. Despite this, while attending her mother’s JC’s Broadway academy, Michelle learned different dance forms including jazz, ballet, contemporary, pointe, freestyle, and tap dance.

Ava’s professional career as a dancer began in 2013 when she was a guest dancer to appear in the 4th season of the reality show “Dance Moms.” She continued to participate in the show for the following four years.
