Michael David Faist was born on January 5th, 1992 in Gahanna, Ohio, USA. He was brought to Gahanna by his father Jurth Faist and his mother Julia, both of whom adopted him when he was a child.

After spending a bunch of years there, the family moved to New York City when Mike Faist was 17 years old. He grew up in a well-settled family, his parents run a real estate business. While growing up, Michael always knew that he had an interest in performing artists.

Faist attended Gahanna Lincoln High School where he performed in a number of school productions including Grease and Jesus Christ Superstar. In 2009 he graduated from high school and moved to New York to pursue his stage career full-time.

Career

In 2011 Faist began his professional acting career by appearing in the hit Disney Channel’s musical Newsies in which he originated the character of Morris Delancey.

His performance in this musical was well-praised and earned him a lot of popularity in the industry. Additionally, the show received a Tony Awards nomination for Best Musical and opened to critical acclaim.

Faist made his feature film debut as Tony in the independent film The Unspeakable Act which gained positive reviews. Two years later he began starring as Rhys Thurston in the play called Appropriate Off-Broadway. In 2015 he was cast in two films Touched with Fire and The Grief of Others.

Mike Faist had a big break when he landed the originating role of Connor Murphy in the popular Dear Evan Hansen. His immense performance in the musical led him to win the shared Grammy Award and a Tony Award nomination.

Faist appeared in Dear Evan Hansen from 2015 to 2018 and in the meantime, he had appearances in numerous television and film projects. Then in 2021, he was announced to play the role of Dodge Mason in the Amazon streaming series Panic. The series was dismissed just after one season, however, it earned positive reviews from critics.
