Early Life
Michelle Buteau was born on July 24th, 1977, in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. She is of French and Jamaican descent on her mother Marie Antoinette’s side and has Haitian ancestry on her father Michel Buteau’s side.
Upon high school graduation, Michelle wanted to pursue a career in journalism so she studied at Florida International University. However, she began pursuing her comedic career after college.
Career
Buteau became a stand-up comedian, performing at shows from 2001 to 2006. Later, she caught the attention of Comedy Central and made her first television spot. In 2011, she was seen in an episode of the NBC’s sitcom Whitney.
From there, she continued appearing as a guest in episodes of TV shows such as Key and Peele and China, IL. In 2014, Buteau landed the recurring role of Private Tanisha Robinson in the Fox sitcom called Enlisted.
