Early Life

Shyniece Thomas was born on February 1st in the mid-to-late 90s. She grew up on Tompkins Avenue in the neighborhood known as Bed-Stuy. Her father was not present for most of her life.

After spending a couple of years with her mom, Shyniece’s mother decided to send her to her grandmother’s house in Birmingham, Alabama. That’s when Lola started showing her interest in music.

Around that time she watched the music video for the rap duo Kris Kross and instantly fell in love with hip-hop. Lola says that her musical inspirations are Missy Elliott, Eve, 50 Cent, and Meek Mill.

Prior to music, she worked a whole bunch of gigs in the service industry including for a retail store The Gap, a restaurant chain Little Caesars, and many more. But her favorite job was working as a residential aide.

Career

Shyniece started her career by adopting a new moniker “Lola Brooke”. The last part of her moniker is short for the city of her birth, Brooklyn. While gaining recognition in the ranks of New York’s freestyling circuit, Lola got a chance from a fellow rapper to appear in one of his music videos.

In 2021 when Lola released her single “Don’t Play With It”. The song began creating buzz and it went viral, earning her a lot of popularity in the industry. Her track even grabbed the attention of the biggest rap artists including Cardi B who posted an Instagram story of herself rhyming along to the single.

Further enthusiastic support emerged when City Girls rapper JT gave Lola a shout-out on social media. Despite having been in the music industry for over 7 years now, Lola has yet to release a studio album. Instead, she’s chosen to focus on releasing one song after another.
