Eric Persson was born in Hoquiam, Washington, United States between 1957 to 1976. Her parent’s names are not revealed yet. There is limited information available about her family and siblings. His ethnicity/descent is White. 

For his higher education, Eric enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he pursued a diverse array of subjects including Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Political Science and Government, and Communications. 

In 1998, he successfully obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. After completing his Law education, Persson embarked on his professional journey in the gaming industry, commencing at a casino in Topeka, KS. Through dedication and expertise, he progressively ascended to senior positions, first at a casino in Wheeling, WV, and ultimately in the vibrant hub of gaming, Las Vegas.

Before founding Maverick Gaming, Persson held the esteemed position of Senior Vice President at Las Vegas Sands Corporation and also served as President and COO of Azure Gaming. He attributes much of his success to the invaluable lessons imparted by five influential billionaires he had the privilege to work with: Sheldon Adelson, Michael Gaughan, Kazuo Okada, Jeremy Jacobs, and Jeffrey Gural. 

Reflecting on their impact, Persson remarked in a 2019 interview, “All of these men are driven, can imagine the reality they want and then make that imagination real. None of them stood on the sidelines of life and watched it pass by. I won’t either.”

In December 2017, Persson, along with his business partner Justin Beltram, inaugurated Maverick Gaming with the acquisition of their first casinos: the Red Garter Hotel and Casino, and the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino, both located in West Wendover, NV. This strategic move represented an initial investment of $43 million. 

Since then, Maverick has consistently expanded its portfolio, focusing on acquiring small to medium-sized casinos with an EBITDA range of $2-$30 million. Most notably, in December 2022, the company invested $80.5 million in acquiring four card rooms in Washington state, bringing the total count of gaming properties to 31 across Nevada, Colorado, and Washington as of April 2023.
