Marcus G. Curry was born on the 1st of June 1961, in Oakland, California. While growing up in Alameda Curry attended St. Joseph Notre Dame High School. He joined a local youth organization, East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC), as a child.
Upon his graduation, he went on to Hayward’s California State University, East Bay. During his college days, he began playing varsity basketball and helped lead his team to a championship. Curry got his degree in criminal justice and was also named a First-Team All-American twice in East Bay.
Career
Curry made his theatrical film debut as Antonio in the comedy film “Talkin’ Dirty After Dark” in 1991. In the following year, he bagged his first big break with the role of Mark Cooper, in the TV series “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper”.
Following his success, he continued to receive major gigs from productions like appearing as a guest in “Living Single”, sitcom “Martin”, and “The Jamie Foxx Show” in which he was featured on two episodes. Curry also made his guest appearances in the feature films “Switchback” and “Armageddon” in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
He began his recurring role as Robert Soulard, in the ABC sitcom “The Drew Carey Show” in 2000. That same year he started working as a host for the game show “Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush”. Then he had the main role of Norton Ballard in the Disney Channel’s Movie “The Poof Point”.

According to Curry’s interview with CNN.com, he tells that after waking up from a 3-day, medically induced coma, he considered suicide. But all thanks to his fellow comedians Bill Cosby and Sinbad who helped him to decide against it.
After spending several months recovering at home Curry appeared on The Montel Williams Show to share about his recovery. Curry is quite private about his personal life and hasn’t disclosed any information about his relationship. However, we do know that he is the father of two daughters.
