Mikaela Mullaney Straus was born on December 19th, 1998, in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised by father Oliver Herbert Straus, Jr. and mother Agnes Patricia “Aggie” Mullaney. Her dad was a famous recording engineer at Mission Sound and her mother was a businesswoman and activist. Mikaela was quite young when her parents split.
While growing up she discovered her interest in music. She started going to her father’s Brooklyn studio, where she learned how to play bass, guitar, piano, and drums. As a child, she was obsessed with Led Zeppelin, T. Rex, and Jack White.

Her debut song, “1950” was included in her first EP, “Make My Bed” which was released in June 2018. Princess came to the big spotlight when popular artist Harry Styles tweeted a lyric from her track “1950.” This song earned her a lot of popularity all around the world.
Breakthrough
Following the success, she released her second track, “Talia,” in April of that year. After releasing her first extended play, “Make My Bed,” Princess got the honor of Breakout Pop Artist of the Year. She then got a chance to perform at Coachella and Lollapalooza in 2019.
In October of that year, she dropped her debut album, “Cheap Queen” under Zelig Recordings. Later that year Princess was named to perform as the opening act for Harry Styles’ concert called “Love On Tour.”
